Born in a Halloween-obsessed coastal town in Northern California and raised by his loving mother, father & television, Joe Martinez-Weinberger always had an affinity for storytelling from a young age. Whether it be convincing neighborhood kids that there are “goblins in them there hills” or trying to tell a teacher he didn’t have his homework because the monster under his bed ate it, JMW is not a stranger to coloring the truth with ghosts, ghouls, and everything in between.
Inspired by his entrepreneurial father, JMW launched Gallows Humor Pictures with his close friend David Clark to create budget-conscious horror films that feature entertainment value beyond the scare. Truly, the only thing he takes seriously is the value of the dollar. However, be warned: keep an eye on him when the check comes. I heard he’s fast.
P.S. He’ll tell you that his first picture, LET’S BE SERIAL KILLERS!, was a one-man show because he could not stand to work with others, but I think others didn’t want to work with him. What a loner!
DC is the exception that made the rule. Don’t trust anyone. Driven by a motor that needs an oil change, he has been making stories about robots taking over theme parks and ninja warriors since his mother bought a camera for his tenth birthday. Since he figured out how to record episodes of cartoons onto it to take on road trips, he has known he was an observer. But many ask, “of what?”
Anything that interests him, which usually is the forgotten, dark, moldy corners of the world. Oftentimes only pointing the camera at what was within five feet of himself as he’s near-sighted, JMW put a foot up his ass to go where no other man has taken a camera before. Namely, into his childhood home to shoot a horror movie.
Some would say he is a forgetful cuss, but oftentimes people forget that wide ruled paper has 27 lines. If you give him 27 things, chances are he’s already on the next page.
